Soundtracks The original Final Fantasy VII soundtracks are very
hard to find these days, as their original maker DigiCube went bankrupt in
2002. The FFVII Official Soundtrack (OST) consists of 4 CDs and also included a small sticker sheet. The catalog number of the original DigiCube version is SSCX10004, and the catalog number of the Square-Enix rerelease is SQEX10001.
The FFVII Reunion Tracks consists of 19 tracks from the OST and three orchestral versions. The catalog number of the original DigiCube release is SSCX10012 and the catalog number of the Square-Enix rerelease is SQEX10042.
The FFVII Piano Collections was released only a few months before DigiCube went bankrupt. The catalog number of the original DigiCube release is SSCX10111 and the catalog number of the Square-Enix rerelease is SQEX10020.
There is also a rare limited edition FFVII OST, that was supposingly manufactured for only one day. This 4 CD set comes in a large special box with a metal plate on front, and includes two booklets consisting of photos and art of FFVII. This version of the OST is very rare and has high collectable value. The catalog number of the origial DigiCube release is SSCX10003.
There are also many FF music collection CDs with FFVII music on them. Pictured are The Black Mages (DigiCube, SSCX10080, Squre-Enix, SQEX10019), Final Fantasy Song Book Mahoroba (Universal Music, UPCH1332), Final Fantasy (Relaxing) Potion (DigiCube, SSCX10051) and Final Fantasy S Generation (TokyoPop, TPCD0213).
There are A LOT of fake soundtracks out there. All FFVII sounadtracks not released by DigiCube or Squre-Enix is unlicensed fake items, usually produced in China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. Unfortunately I have learned this the hard way, and I will never stop wondering why so many big and reliable online shops choose to keep selling these bootleg soundtracks and other unlicensed FF items. For more information about the fake soundtracks please see the “Fakes” section. |
