The Game Final Fantasy VII was released on Sony Playstation in 1997 and in 1998 on PC in the western world. Since the first release in Japan there have been several slightly different releases of the game. This page is for presenting those different releases. The Japanese Sony Playstation releases, FFVII and FFVII International. The original game was released in Japan in such a hurry some scenes and mosters were left out. The missing parts were included in the later release "FFVII International", which also includes an extra cd with pictures from the game and game art. The FFVII International has been released as PSone Books budget version as well.
The North American Sony Playstation release of FFVII was later followed by the FFVII Greatest Hits version. There is also a supposingly rare missprint version of the original American release, in which one of the letters on the back of the game is slightly missplaced...
In Europe the original FFVII release (PAL) was followed by the FFVII Platinum version release.
The promotional full version of the PAL game was never sold at stores, and like other promo games does not include an instruction manual or a Playstation game case. I expect there to be similar promotional version of the game in Japan and USA as well, but I have no info or pics of them.
There are quite a few different PC versions of FFVII. As far as I know, the first version of FFVII for PC was release by Eidos in a triangular box. Eidos later released the game in Europe in a standard shape box including a free FFVII PC mouse mat. The game was later released as Eidos Platinium Collection. There is often confusion about why there are FFVII PC games released by Electronic Arts instead of Eidos. The reason for that is that supposingly Eidos and EA cooperated for some time, and that the two EA versions of the game were released during that period.
