Books The Final Fantasy VII books include art books, guide books, music books, post card books and magazines. All the major Final Fantasy VII printed materials are in Japanese, but there are a number of Guides written in the English or other languages. After the release of FFVII Advent Children, Square-Enix has published a new FFVII book, the FFVII Ultimania Omega. The cover of the book features the AC versions of Cloud and Sephiroth. The book consists of 592 pages includes material and facts about the original FFVII that have never before been published.
The Final Fantasy VII Official Establishment File was published in 1997 by Aspect and edited by Famitsu. It has 96 color pages and one pull-out double sided poster featuring art of Yoshitaka Amano. The book includes pictures and some concept art from the game as well as gaming tips.
The Final Fantasy VII Complete Disection Book Cloud cover version has 336 pages, all in full color. The book features lots of illustrations, CG art works, screen shots, character data and scenario data. Published in Japan in 1997.
The Final Fantasy VII Complete Disection Book Aerith cover version is the revised edition of the Cloud cover version. It has 350 pages, all in full color. The book features lots of illustrations, CG art works, screen shots, character data and scenario data. Published in Japan in 2002.
The Final Fantasy VII International Memorial Album has high quality color pictures of every scene of the game. It plays out the story of Final Fantasy VII through the use of game graphics, dialogs and movies from the game. The book also lists the features included in the FFVII Japan International that are missing from the original Japanese release. This book was made by DigiCube and has 264 pages of color pictures and text.
This Final Fantasy VII International Memorial Album is a hard cover version of the book above. I would say it is just a fancy version of the otherwise same book. Quite rare and high quality item.
The FFVII V-Jump Books Game Series art and guide book was published by the Japanese Shueisha in 1997. The book has 120 pages of high quality color pictures featuring scenes from the game and concept art. In my opinion more versatile and fun to read than the Official Establishment File, for example.
The V-Jump FFVII The Perfect game artbook has 216 pages and was published by Shueisha in 1997. The book also includes a pull-out poster illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano. In my opinion, slightly more rare than the other V-Jump guide book.
In 1997 Shueisha published a 160-page FFVII V-Jump Magazine with some rarely seen pictures of official merchandise and special interviews. In my opinion it is one of the most interesting and versatile FFVII books.
The Guide Book Series Final Fantasy VII by DigiCube in 1997 has 64 color pages of gaming tips and pictures from the game and concept art.
Four V-Jump FFVII booklets.
The Final Fantasy VII OST Sheet Music score book was released by Doremi and has 280 pages. The book includes piano score for every track of the official 4 CD soundtrack.
The Final Fantasy VII Piano Collections Sheet Music score book consists of 70 pages of piano scores for the songs on the Piano Collections CD. The book was published by the Yamaha Music Media Corporation.
The Final Fantasy VII International Post Card Book. This small and rare book includes two sheets of stickers and many postcards featuring pictures from the game and original background concept art by Kusanagi.
As far as I know, there are 3 different Official Guide Books for the English version of the game; first edition, second edition and PC version. The two different editions for the Playstation game are almost the identical. All these guides are like most official game guides, they have walkthroughs, tips, secrets and items list with pictures. Nothing too spectacular, I would say.
The collectable value of unofficial guides is generally speaking low, but there is one exception. Final Fantasy VII Ultimate Guide by Versus Books is probably the most sought after and expensive Final Fantasy VII book. It is considered to have lots of gaming tips for people hoping to really master the game and is also almost spoiler free. The guide also includes a big pull out poster.
There are a lot unofficial FFVII guide books written in various languages out there, but they do not generally speaking offer anything special or have any collectable value. The style and quality varies a lot.
